Communications

 Work with students on communications projects to strengthen their abilities and skills while telling their own stories.

Purpose/Desired Outcome: 

1)   Facilitate educational outreach and fundraising efforts through print, video, PowerPoint, and web. Promote understanding of our programs and projects in Ghana .

2)   Work with students in our schools on communications projects to strengthen their abilities and skills in writing, using computers, and cameras.

Responsibilities:

  • Prior to leaving for Ghana, the individual will become familiar with Pagus:Africa’s projects and objectives and work with the Executive Director to develop a communication plan.
  • While documenting in Ghana, the individual will work with the school children, staff, teachers and surrounding community. In addition, they may conduct workshops with students on a creative project including producing a school newspaper.
  • Submit weekly reports via email on work accomplished, overall experience, and observations and submit

Qualifications/ Desired Traits: The individual should be creative, self-starting, highly-motivated, and able to follow through the projects to completion. They should have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Location: Ho, Kpando and Hohoe – all in Volta Region, Ghana. All sites are within about one hour of each other and accessible with public transportation (buses, passenger vans called trotros, or shared taxis).

Accommodations:  Housing and dinners will be provided. Simple rooms are with electricity, a small refrigerator and fans are the norm.  Volunteers are made very welcome and are well looked after throughout their stay.
