I want to send a gift to my child. What do they need and what do you recommend?
What if I want to mail package? Can I do that?
What if I want to make a bigger shipment, is that possible?
Can you carry a small gift and give it to my child when you visit?
Q. What is the best way for me to communicate with my sponsored child?
A. The quickest and easiest way is to email firstname.lastname@example.org. We forward the email to the school where they print it out and give to your child.
Q. I want to send a gift to my child. What do they need and what do you recommend?
A. Gifts are not expected but always appreciated, of course. We suggest gifts that can be shared with the whole class such as exercise books or pens or pencils for everyone. Story books and activity books are always a big hit! A bigger and very special gift could even be a field trip. In any case, gifts should be purchased in Ghana, as shipping is unreliable and expensive. If it is important to you to give a personal gift, we recommend a gift of $25 that can can be put towards the purchase of an extra uniform, health insurance, summer school classes, or textbooks.

Q. What if I want to mail package? Can I do that?
A. Because postage to Ghana is expensive, slow and unreliable, we do not recommend shipping packages to the school. We have also learned that they must pay duty on the other end, so if you do choose to mail a package, be sure to alert us in advance to make the necessary arrangements. As for the contents of the package, let's discuss that, too, so we can help make sure the gift is appropriate for the recipient.
Q. Can you carry a small gift and give it to my child when you visit?
A. Yes. Whenever we have a trip planned we try to alert our community so you can send us or drop off small gifts, letters or other items. As long as we have room in our suitcase, we are more than happy to do this.
Q. What if I want to make a bigger shipment, is that possible?
A. First, let's discuss what you want to send so we can be sure it makes sense to do this. Generally, we use a shipper if we have collected school equipment and supplies that are difficult to get in Ghana. Our shipper has been reliable and is reasonably priced. Once again, arrangements must be made to cover the costs involved. Contact us to make these arrangements. We will also help make sure those items you send will be correctly distributed and used.back to top
