This March marked our one year anniversary of the opening of the Airfield School. A celebration was held at the school and the children presented a beautiful cultural display for schoolmates, teachers, parents, elders, government officials, and visitors from Pagus. In numerous speeches during the event, stress was placed on the importance of parent and teacher commitment to assure ongoing improvements in education.

Volunteers are helping to improve the school on many levels by working with staff, parents and students. Top challenges include improving attendance and punctuality of students and teachers, the need to improve hygiene through proper use of sanitation facilities and water usage, the need to provide children with proper nutrition, the need to get more and better teaching materials and school supplies, and most importantly the need to make sure that all children will learn how to read, write and do basic math.
