Projects in Ghana currently include:
In support of The Bishop Forson School Complex
and the Surrounding Community:
COMPUTER LAB AND LIBRARY
Volunteers Jesse Clark and Sam Barris spent their summer volunteering at BFSC to work on the library. Over the summer the 13 orphans living on campus had their first opportunity to borrow books and this year all of the children regularly visit the library to choose books. They especially enjoy National Geographic! Computers we sent in 2007 are used in the new computer lab and regular classes are being held! MANY THANKS to all those who helped through financial donations and donations of time, goods, and services to make this project such a success! We are seeing great excitement in the school community as these facilities are made available.

STORY
Volunteers work in Ghana at the Bishops Forson School throughout the year. They help teach, organize and document life there. The skills and interests or each volunteer is carefully considered and put to best use. To learn more about volunteering, click here.
Students at the Bishop Forson School will soon be learning how to raise goats and small animals in the guinea pig and porcupine family called 'grass cutter'. Raising these animals at the school will prove educational and also provide food for the children. As the program grows, it may become a sustainable income source for the school. |

Plans are finalized and we have helped organize the community. We are now waiting for building permits to begin building the foundation. Funds for this project have been solely provided by student fund raising efforts. They have raised an astounding $30,000 but this only takes us half way there. Can you help? Please read more.

PROJECTS IN PLANNING
PLANTING FRUIT TREES - Planting fruit trees and plants in rural schools helps prevent and heal malnutrition. Watermelon provides short term food. Coconut, mango, paw paw and other trees will be planted for a long term solution. We have planted many trees but we want to do more. Let us know if you want to help!
CLEAN WATER - Obtaining clean water sources for villages and schools now relying on dirty streams that cause sickness and disease is a priority. There are several solutions we can employ such as drilling boreholes, digging wells and providing systems to purify existing water sources. We are currently seeking funding to drill a borehoe at the Bishop Forson School. This school currently collects rainwater and trucks clean water in. The Airfield school now has a bore hole thanks to Noeline Haylett and her organization in Ireland.
Pagus:Africa's mission is to strengthen poor rural communities in Ghana, W. Africa through targeted projects in education, health, and poverty reduction. We believe the most effective ways to facilitate long term sustainable change is through education of children and through direct help and advice to local responsible non-profit organizations. We seek to empower communities to improve their schools, water sources, and health conditions. 100% of donated funds go directly to our projects - no salaries or rents are deducted. If you want to know how your donation will be spent contact us or let us know to which project you would like it directed.
