Charlotte, is one of our incredible students on the Path to Success. Her story is an inspiring reminder of what your support makes possible.
Charlotte arrived in London September of 2025, to attend graduate school at the London School of Economics, on a full scholarship. This is what she wrote shortly before she left Ghana.
“Charlotte, evolve. Evolve, my dear.”
Those words from Ms. Ellen have stayed with me. They pushed me to grow, to dare, and to imagine bigger versions of myself. They helped me become someone who could apply—and be chosen—for a Chevening Scholarship and a place at the London School of Economics.
In 2019, becoming a diplomat seemed like a distant dream. But my journey began when I joined Pagus’ Center for Achievement (CFA) as an intern. That experience changed everything. I gained practical and leadership skills, built my confidence, and was surrounded by people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.
When I decided to apply for Chevening in 2022, for postgraduate studies, the Pagus team was by my side—offering mock interviews, recommendation letters, encouragement, and tears of joy when I advanced to the interview stage. Ms. Megan, a former team member from the UK, helped me choose the best fit among the three schools that accepted me and the several exciting programs I was considering. I landed on the MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation at LSE.
That program speaks to every part of who I am: an advocate for women and youth, a grassroots leader, a future policymaker, and a changemaker.
I submitted my application just one hour before the deadline, unsure if I’d even be considered. But I made it. I got in—and Chevening awarded me a full scholarship! I’m heading to LSE—ready to grow, to lead, and to give back.
To all of you who support Pagus Africa, thank you. I am proof that your support puts people like me on the Path to Success. I was just a girl with a dream, reaching in the dark. You gave me a light. And this is only the beginning.
With gratitude,
Charlotte Emefa
